About VAMOS!

Play Your Potential!

Vamos Youth is an organization dedicated to promoting water safety and providing education and training to underserved communities. We create programs in partnership with nonprofits to give access to lifesaving skills in order to reduce drowning statistics in coastal Costa Rica. As an affiliated organization of the Lifesaving Society, we are committed to the highest standards of safety and excellence in all of our programs and initiatives.

Our programs include swimming lessons, lifesaving academy and training, and water safety education, all of which are designed to help people of all ages and skill levels feel more comfortable and confident in and around the water. By partnering with local organizations, we are able to bring lifesaving skills and knowledge to those who need it most, including underserved communities in coastal Costa Rica.

Whether you’re interested in taking a class, volunteering, or making a donation, we invite you to join us in our mission to promote water safety and save lives.

Meet Aude Lemaire-Hamel, Founder of VAMOS Youth

Her lifetime passion for lifesaving brought Aude to compete internationally in open water swim races and in lifesaving. However, she got her start as a triathlete and did her first triathlon at the age of 7 years old. It wasn’t always easy but she found a way to manage school & training until she got selected to represent the triathlon team of University Laval where she studied business for four years.

Aude worked for more than 10 years as a professional lifeguard in Montreal, Myrtle Beach and Ocean City. That’s where she realized lifesaving wasn’t just a job, but also a competitive sport. While studying, working, coaching, she then focused her training on lifesaving competitions and got selected to represent Canada in international competitions with the national team.

Over the years, Aude became a lifesaving instructor for the Lifesaving Society of Quebec and a certified swim and triathlon coach. She moved to the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica with a mission to educate the youth of our beach community to be advocates for ocean safety and leaders in keeping our beaches safe. Her biggest goal is to inspire and give the tools to the youth to achieve more and follow their dreams while having fun. Serving the communites of Tamarindo, Playa Flamingo, Brasilito, Huacas and Playa Grande, she continues to educate the youth of the area while keeping fun and teamwork at the forefront.
